Babylon Click

Whenever you click on a term using the defined mouse or keyboard action, the Babylon window opens and automatically displays translations and definitions for the selected term.

The sentence or paragraph in which the word appears will also be displayed in the Text Translation field in the Results pane.

Term Box

You can open the Babylon window and then type or paste your query in the Term box. To get results, press Translate button.

Autocompletion

Babylon's Auto-completion feature predicts the word or phrase you want to query and automatically suggests choices for completing the word or phrase.
As soon as you begin typing text in the Term Box, a pull-down list is displayed suggesting up to 10 similar terms , based on your previously queried terms and active offline dictionaries.

Terms Previously Queried

Babylon stores the last 50 terms entered in the Term Box. You can view previous results by scrolling through the Term Box's pull -down list.
To clear the history of results, go to the Configuration menu and use the Miscellaneous tab.

Text Translation Results

Babylon offers full text translations in 31 languages.

When you copy or select a paragraph, its text is captured and automatically loaded into the Text Translator utility.

You can also activate the utility and then paste or type text into the Original text field.

To activate Text Translation, select Text Translator in the activation pan from the Globe "Translate" button menu.

You can select the source and target languages for translation or you can leave the default auto detect option (Babylon will attempt to detect the source language for you). Babylon will maintain and use the language pair until you change them again.

Document Translation

Babylon 8 enables the translation of any document from your PC. It is now easy to select a document (MS Word, PDF, text file, etc.) and have Babylon translate it to any language.

You can drag and drop or simply browse and select the document you wish to translate; Babylon will import the document content in a text format. Once the text is displayed in the “Original text” area you may set your target language and click on the Translate button.

Babylon will translate 512 characters each time you perform translation and will leave the remaining text grayed out in the Original text area.

Web Page Translation

Babylon 8 instantly translates a Web page from and to any language of your choice. Babylon will automatically offer translation service for the web page you are visiting to the languages of your choice.

With click of a mouse you can trigger the following setup screen and type in the URL source and target language, then click “Translate” and relax. Babylon will translate the text within this page and display the translated result as per your choice (in a “New Tab” or “New Window”).

Babylon Globe offers Web page translation under the scenario where Babylon language detection indicates that you are browsing a Web page in a foreign language (excluding English) other than the one you set in the Languages & Dictionaries settings.

Spell Checker

If no results are delivered for a term, it might be due to a misspelling or a typographical error.

Click the Speller button at the bottom of the Results pane.

Babylon will search for spelling alternatives in all active dictionaries, which you have downloaded to your computer.

Getting More Results

If you are connected to the Internet, you can expand the scope of the search.

Click the More Results button at the bottom of the Results Pane.

Babylon has a database of over - 1,400 dictionaries, encyclopedias and glossaries in over 75 languages that are available, free of charge, after you purchase Babylon. Online dictionaries may take slightly longer to show results.

You can download online dictionaries for offline use.
