Smith's Bible Dictionary is a 19th century Bible dictionary named after its editor, William Smith (1813-1893), a noted English theologian and scholar. The first edition of Smith's Bible Dictionary was published as a three volume set in England in 1863. The version found here is based on 1884 edition, an expanded four volume version which was published in the United States.
