Yard
A yard (abbreviation: yd) is a unit of length in several different systems including United States customary units, Imperial units and the former English units. It is equal to 3 feet or 36 inches. Under an agreement in 1959 between Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States, the yard (known as the "international yard" in the United States) was legally defined to be exactly 0.9144 metres. Prior to that date, the legal definition of the yard when expressed in terms of metric units varied slightly from country to country.

République démocratique populaire du Yémen
La République démocratique populaire du Yémen ( Jumhuriyyat al-Yaman ad-Dimuqratiyah ash-Sha'biyah), aussi connu comme Yémen du Sud, est un État fondé en 1970 et disparu en 1990, constitué de la partie sud de l'actuel Yémen. Le Yémen du Sud était la seule République marxiste du mone arabe. Sa capitale était Aden.

En yard är en anglosaxisk längdenhet som ursprungligen definierades som avståndet från kungens (Henrik I) näsa till spetsen av tummen med framsträckt hand. Översatt till dagens mått blir det ungefär 0,91 meter, (tre engelska fot).

Jard (yd) (Yard) - anglosaska jednostka długości. Jednostka podstawowa angielskiego i amerykańskiego układu miar.
Historycznie występują dwie nieznacznie różniące się wersje jednostki:
1. angielska (Imp. yd) oparta na fizycznym wzorcu wykonanym ze spiżu, przechowywanym w Londynie w gmachu parlamentu - starsza, której wartość w 1934 wynosiła:

Ludowo-Demokratyczna Republika Jemenu (Jemen Demokratyczny, Jemen Południowy) była państwem na terytorium obecnego Jemenu.
22 maja 1990 Ludowo-Demokratyczna Republika Jemenu połączyła się z Jemeńską Republiką Arabską by stworzyć dzisiejszą Republikę Jemeńską.
