Revaluation of fixed assets
In finance, a revaluation of fixed assets is a technique that may be required to accurately describe the true value of the capital goods a business owns. This should be distinguished from planned depreciation, where the recorded decline in value of an asset is tied to its age.

Write-off
The term written-off describes a reduction in recognized value. In accounting terminology, it refers to recognition of the reduced or zero value of an asset. In income tax statements, it refers to a reduction of taxable income as recognition of certain expenses required to produce the income. Write-off is also used in vehicle insurance to describe a vehicle which is cheaper to replace than to repair, sometimes colloquially referred to as being "totaled" (a total loss).

Abschreibung
Mit der Abschreibung erfasst man im betrieblichen Rechnungswesen planmäßige oder außerplanmäßige Wertminderungen von Vermögensgegenständen. Die Abschreibung korrespondiert dabei dem Wertverlust von Unternehmensvermögen (Anlagevermögen und Umlaufvermögen) innerhalb eines Zeitraums. Dabei kann der Wertverlust durch allgemeine Gründe wie Alterung und Verschleiß oder durch spezielle Gründe wie einen Unfallschaden oder Preisverfall veranlasst sein. Die Abschreibung wird meist aus betriebswirtschaftlicher Sicht ermittelt und – unter Beachtung handelsrechtlicher und steuerrechtlicher Besonderheiten – als Aufwand in der Gewinnermittlung berücksichtigt. Das Gegenteil der Abschreibung ist die Zuschreibung, die als Wertaufholung in Frage kommt, wenn in Vorjahren zu hohe Abschreibungen vorgenommen wurden.

Nedskrivning
Nedskrivning innebär, att en anläggningstillgång eller omsättningstillgång (till exempel en fordran) helt eller delvis skrivs bort från balansräkningen och blir en kostnad på resultaträkningen. Man gör en nedskrivning när en tillgång har förlorat i värde så att värdet är mycket lägre än det bokförda värdet. Nergången skall dessutom vara bestående.

Amortyzacja
Amortyzacja oznacza rozłożenie wartości przez pewien okres. Można mówić o amortyzacji kredytu (rozłożeniu jego spłaty), ale najczęściej pojęcie to odnosi się do amortyzacji księgowej.
Amortyzacja księgowa służy przypisaniu ceny nabycia lub kosztu wytworzenia środka trwałego lub wartości niematerialnej i prawnej do całego okresu ekonomicznej użyteczności tych aktywów. Suma odpisów amortyzacyjnych stanowi umorzenie.
Amortyzacja jest kosztem niepieniężnym (to znaczy nie pociąga za sobą wydatków w bieżącym okresie). Jest także źródłem finansowanie inwestycji restytucyjnych. Z pomocą amortyzacji nakłady na zakup czy wytworzenie środka trwałego są stopniowo zaliczane w koszty poszczególnych okresów, co pozwala (przynajmniej teoretycznie) zgromadzić fundusze na zakup nowych środków trwałych po całkowitym zamortyzowaniu starych.
