The Woolly Rhinoceros (Coelodonta antiquitatis) is an extinct species of rhinoceros that lived during the Pleistocene epoch, but survived the last ice age. The woolly rhinoceros are members of the Pleistocene megafauna. It lived on the northern steppes of Eurasia, where its relative the Giant Unicorn (Elasmotherium) had a more southern range. It had a flat horn that enabled it to push aside snow in order to graze. The Woolly Rhino also had thick fur and a layer of thick fat to keep it warm from the cold conditions it endured.

Le rhinocéros laineux (Coelodonta antiquitatis) était une espèce de rhinocéros de grande taille qui se caractérisait par une épaisse toison laineuse (d'où son nom) qui le protégeait du froid des régions où il habitait, et par la présence de deux cornes sur son museau. Ses poils étaient longs, ses oreilles courtes, ses pattes courtes et épaisses. Il habitait les steppes froides qui couvraient au Pléistocène une grande partie de l'Eurasie. À son apogée, il y a moins de ans, on le trouvait depuis le centre de l'Espagne et le Sud de l'Angleterre jusqu'en Mongolie et dans le Sud de la Sibérie. Son parent le plus proche parmi les rhinocéros actuels est le rhinocéros de Sumatra (Dicerorhinus sumatrensis), petit et poilu, qui survit toujours de nos jours en Indonésie, mais dont l'espèce est hautement menacée d'extinction.

Das Wollnashorn oder auch Fellnashorn (Coelodonta antiquitatis) war eine eiszeitliche Art der Nashörner. Verbreitet war es in den Kältesteppen zwischen Westeuropa und Ostasien. Es ist ein Rätsel, warum es ihm offenbar nicht wie dem Wollhaarmammut gelang, die Beringbrücke zu überqueren und Nordamerika zu besiedeln. Im Nordosten kam es jedenfalls bis zur Wrangel-Insel vor.

Nosorożec włochaty (†Coelodonta antiquitatis) - wymarły, ssak nieparzystokopytny z rodziny nosorożców, żyjący w plejstocenie, od 500.000 lat temu należał do plejstocenskiej megafauny. Egzystował w północnych stepach Eurazji.Z ostatnich badań wynika że ostatnia populacja przeżyła do 8.000 p.n.e w Zachodniej Syberii. Najbliższym krewnym, jest nosorożec sumatrzański (Dicerorhinus sumatrensis), ciągle żyje w południowej Azji, ale jest zagrożony wyginięciem.
