Whitewash
Whitewash, or calcimine, kalsomine, calsomine, or lime paint is a low-cost type of paint made from slaked lime (calcium hydroxide) and chalk (whiting). Various other additives are also used. The incident of Tom Sawyer whitewashing a fence as punishment is a famous image in American literature (written in 1876).

Sumpfkalk
Sumpfkalk ist eine Aufschlämmung (Suspension) von Calciumhydroxid (Ca(OH)2, Kalkhydrat, Löschkalk) in Wasser. Der Name Sumpfkalk kommt von der sehr alten Technik des Ablöschens von Brandkalk zu gelöschtem Kalk durch Einsumpfen.

Whitewash
Whitewash - potoczny termin używany w dziennikarstwie sportowym określający porażkę zawodnika lub drużyny do zera. Termin ten nie jest używany w grach w których przegranie do zera jest bardzo częste (np. w piłce nożnej bardzo często zdarza się porażka 0:1 czy 0:2).
Termin "Whitewash" można natomiast użyć np. w snookerze - w sytuacji gdy któryś zawodników przegrywa mecz do 10 wygranych framów - 0:10.

Whitewash
Nel gergo sportivo della lingua inglese il termine Whitewash (il cui significato letterale è "intonaco") viene utilizzato per indicare un incontro o una serie di incontri in cui un atleta o una squadra sportiva rimane a zero punti.
Il Whitewash può avvenire in un singolo incontro sportivo in cui il perdente (o la squadra sconfitta) non mette a segno alcun punto, o in una serie di incontri in cui il perdente (o la squadra sconfitta) non vince alcun incontro.
