This includes patterns of social relations, consumption, entertainment, and dress. A lifestyle typically also reflects an individual's attitudes, values or worldview. Having a specific "lifestyle" means engaging in a characteristic bundle of behaviors that makes sense to both others and the self in different times and places. Therefore, a lifestyle can be used to forge a sense of self identity and to create cultural symbols for the way a person is. The behaviors and practices within lifestyles are a mixture of habits, conventional ways of doing things, and reasoned actions.

Der Ausdruck Lebensstil, auch Lebensart, bezeichnet umgangssprachlich die Art und Weise der Lebensführung. In der Soziologie sind verschiedene Lebensstilbegriffe entwickelt worden, in der Medizin geht es um die gesundheitlichen Aspekte des jeweiligen Lebensstils.

Estilo de vida é uma expressão moderna que se refere à extra(c)tificação da sociedade por meio de aspectos comportamentais, expressos geralmente sob a forma de padrões de consumo: rotina ou uma forma de vida adaptada ao dia-a-dia. Estilo de vida é a forma pela qual uma pessoa ou um grupo de pessoas vivenciam o mundo e, em consequência, se comportam e fazem escolhas. Mas isso é só uma parte do que define um estilo de vida.
