Water vapor or water vapour (see spelling differences), also aqueous vapor, is the gas phase of water. It is one state of water within the hydrosphere. Water vapor can be produced from the evaporation or boiling of liquid water or from the sublimation of ice. Under typical atmospheric conditions, water vapor is continuously generated by evaporation and removed by condensation. It is lighter than air and triggers convection currents that can lead to clouds.

<onlyinclude> In der Umgangssprache versteht man unter Wasserdampf meist die sichtbaren Dampfschwaden von teilweise bereits kondensierendem Wasserdampf (Nassdampf), wie er auch als Nebel oder in Wolken vorkommt.

Vattenånga är vatten i gasform, alltså ett av vattens aggregationstillstånd. Vattenånga bildas antingen när flytande vatten avdunstar eller när fast is sublimerar. Vatten avdunstar lättare ju högre temperaturen är. Motsatt övergår vattenånga till vätska igen (kondenserar) lättare vid lägre temperatur. På jorden är vattenånga en av faserna i vattnets kretslopp i hydrosfären. Vattenånga är inte synligt för blotta ögat, men man kan se den indirekt, exempelvis som bubblorna i kokande vatten.

Para wodna - stan gazowy wody. Jako czysty gaz występuje w naturze gejzerach w gorących jaskiniach, jest wyrzucana z podziemi, jest wytwarzana i używana w technice oraz w gospodarstwie domowym. Jest też składnikiem powietrza atmosferycznego, jej zawartość w powietrzu zmienia się.
