Waddy
A waddy, nulla nulla or hunting stick is an
Australian Aboriginal war club. The former name comes from the
Dharuk Aborigines of
Port Jackson,
Sydney. They are a heavy carved timber club used in hand to hand combat, they could split a shield, kill or stun food, could be thrown and they could be used to make fire and make
ochre. They were also used for punishing those who broke the Aboriginal law. They were made by men and women they could be painted or unpainted and they were also not alike through the tribes. They were generally about one metre and sometimes a stone head was added and attached with
bees wax and string. They were made from where a branch meets a tree or from a young tree pulled up from the ground with the root at an end.
