Violence
Violence is the use of physical force against persons that potentially causes fear, injury or death.  Damage, in some contexts, is also considered a form of violence. The definition of violence is often widened to include threats of physical force and substantially abusive language and harassing actions.

Der Begriff Gewalt (eine Bildung des althochdeutschen Verbes verwalten, bzw. waltan – stark sein, beherrschen) bezeichnet von seiner etymologischen Wurzel her das „Verfügen-können über das innerweltliche Sein“. Der Begriff bezeichnet also ursprünglich und gelegentlich noch heute rein das Vermögen zur Durchführung einer Handlung und beinhaltet kein Urteil über deren Rechtmäßigkeit.

La violenza è un'azione fisica o psichica esercitata da una persona su un'altra (anche se può, nella specificità del termine, includersi l'azione fisica e psichica di un uomo su un animale).Spesso (ma non sempre) la violenza ha lo scopo di indurre nell'altro comportamenti che altrimenti non avrebbe.Le discipline accademiche che si occupano del fenomeno della violenza sono la psicologia, la sociologia, la scienza politica e la giurisprudenza. L'approccio al fenomeno varia a seconda della disciplina.
