Straw wine, or raisin wine, is a wine made from grapes that have been dried to concentrate their juice. The result is similar to that of the ice wine process, but suitable for warmer climates. The classic method dries clusters of grapes on mats of straw in the sun, but some regions dry them under cover, some hang up the grapes, and the straw may be replaced by modern racks. The technique dates back to pre-Roman times, and most production of these wines has been in Northern Italy and the French Alps. However producers in other areas are now starting to experiment with the method.

Als Strohwein (franz. vin de paille, ital. passito) bezeichnet man einen Wein, dessen Trauben nach der Lese auf Strohmatten oder Holzgestellen getrocknet wurden, sodass ihr Zuckergehalt infolge der Wasserverdunstung steigt. Erst nach dieser Behandlung werden die Trauben gepresst. Wegen des hohen Zuckeranteils entsteht bei der anschließenden Vinifikation meist ein sehr schwerer, lange lagerfähiger Wein mit einem Alkoholgehalt von 14 % oder mehr.

Le vin de paille est un vin liquoreux du Jura en Franche-Comté, dit aussi vin paillé en Corrèze, produit à partir de sélections des plus beaux raisins des vendanges et de passerillage du raisin (les grappes de raisin sont traditionnellement séchées plusieurs mois pour se concentrer en sucre et en goût sur des claies en paille avant d'être pressurées).

Strowijn (Frans: vin de paille) is een wijnsoort die gemaakt wordt van gedroogde druiven. Vaak worden de druiven op stro gedroogd, vandaar de naam strowijn. Dit levert sap op met een hoger suikergehalte. Tijdens de wijnbereiding ontstaat hierdoor wijn met een alcoholpercentage van 14 of hoger.
