Vignette is a word that originally meant "something that may be written on a vine-leaf". It may refer to:

• Vignette (graphic design), decorative designs in books to separate sections or chapters

Das Wort Vignette (frz. „Randverzierung“, „Abzeichen“; von „Weinrebe“) bezeichnet ursprünglich eine Randverzierung im Druckwesen. Inzwischen wird das Wort meist synonym für Aufkleber oder Siegel gebraucht.

Le mot vignette comporte deux significations principales:
- Dans son premier sens, le plus ancien, il était utilisé pour désigner tout motif ornemental illustrant les pages de textes imprimés, et notamment ceux placées en tête de ces pages. Par extension, ce terme à parfois été appliqué à toute illustration d'un livre dessinée ou gravée. Cette désignation qui dérive du mot "vigne", provenait du fait que, souvent dans le passé, ces motifs décoratifs incluaient des ceps ou des pampres.
