Velocity
In physics, velocity is speed in a given direction. Speed describes only how fast an object is moving, whereas velocity gives both the speed and direction of the object's motion. To have a constant velocity, an object must have a constant speed and motion in a constant direction. Constant direction typically constrains the object to motion in a straight path. A car moving at a constant 20 kilometers per hour in a circular path does not have a constant velocity. The rate of change in velocity is acceleration. Velocity is a vector physical quantity; both magnitude and direction are required to define it. The scalar absolute value (magnitude) of velocity is speed, a quantity that is measured in metres per second (m/s or ms-1) when using the SI (metric) system.

Velocity
Velocity (dt. Geschwindigkeit) bezeichnet bei anschlagsdynamischen elektronischen Tasteninstrumenten (z. B. Synthesizer oder Keyboards) die sogenannte Anschlagsgeschwindigkeit, d. h. diejenige Geschwindigkeit, mit der eine Taste niedergedrückt wird (vgl. auch Anschlag beim Klavier). Abhängig von der Anschlagsgeschwindigkeit ist auch der Druck, der beim Anschlag physikalisch auf eine Taste ausgeübt wird. Durch mehr oder weniger schnelles bzw. starkes Niederdrücken können die verschiedenen Eigenschaften des elektronisch erzeugten Klangs beeinflusst werden, so z. B. die Lautstärke, die Intensität der Einschwingungsphase (vgl. Transienten) oder die dynamische Entwicklung des Klangs während der Haltephase. Mithilfe des Velocity-Parameters emulieren elektronische Instrumente die Eigenschaften akustischer Instrumente beim Ansetzen eines Tons, wie z. B. die Anschlagsstärke bei Tasteninstrumenten, den Anblasdruck bei Blasinstrumenten, oder die Geschwindigkeit und den Anpressdruck eines Bogens bei Saiteninstrumenten.

Geschwindigkeit
Unter der Geschwindigkeit (Formelzeichen: v, von lat. velocitas) eines Körpers versteht man die von ihm zurückgelegte Wegstrecke s pro Zeiteinheit t. Mathematisch entspricht die Geschwindigkeit der Ableitung des Ortes nach der Zeit.

Définition
- En physique, la vitesse est une grandeur qui mesure le rapport d'une évolution au temps. Exemple: vitesse de sédimentation, vitesse d'une réaction chimique, etc.
- En cinématique, la vitesse est une grandeur vectorielle qui mesure pour un mouvement, le rapport de la distance parcourue au temps.

Hastighet
Hastighet är inom fysik en storhet för att beskriva rörelse. Storheten är definierad som förändring av läge per tidsenhet. Hastighet har dimension längd per tid och betecknas vanligen v, från latinets velocitas. I SI-systemet är dess enhet meter per sekund, som till exempel används för vindstyrka. En vardagligare enhet är kilometer per timme. Omräkningen är att 1 m/s = 3 600 m/h = 3,6 km/h.

Östgöta nation, i dagligt tal Östgöta eller ÖG är en av tretton nationer vid Uppsala universitet. Nationen grundades 8 november 1646, men är trots det känd genom konsistoriets protokoll sedan 1595. Nationen har idag runt 2 600 medlemmar.

Velocity to projekt typu open source rozwijany pod patronatem fundacji Fundacja Apache. Projekt ten rozwija procesor szablonów stron WWW pisany w Javie.
Ma być w zamyśle łatwy w użyciu i przeznaczony przede wszystkim do tworzenia dynamicznych stron WWW. Velocity wykorzystuje MVC (Model-View-Controller), a więc uwalnia programistów i osoby tworzące dokumenty HTML od uciążliwej edycji wspólnych plików. Odróżnia to Velocity od JSP i PHP, w przypadku których zarówno kod, jak i szablon, mogą znajdować się w tym samym pliku.
