Vát is a village in Vas county, Hungary.

A value added tax (VAT) is a form of consumption tax. From the perspective of the buyer, it is a tax on the purchase price. From that of the seller, it is a tax only on the value added to a product, material or service, from an accounting point of view, by this stage of its manufacture or distribution. The manufacturer remits to the government the difference between these two amounts, and retains the rest for themselves to offset the taxes they had previously paid on the inputs.

Ein Vät ist ein flaches, periodisch austrocknendes Stillgewässer. Vätar bestehen im Stora Alvaret auf der schwedischen Ostseeinsel Öland, aber auch auf Gotland.

Die Umsatzsteuer (USt) ist eine Steuer, die den Austausch von Leistungen (= Umsatz) besteuert. Bemessungsgrundlage ist der Erlös, den ein Unternehmer für seine Leistungen im Inland erzielt. Podatek od towarów i usług (VAT od ang. - Value Added Tax - podatek od wartości dodanej) - podatek pośredni, który z założenia ma w jak najmniejszy sposób oddziaływać na ostateczną cenę towaru i usługi podlegającej opodatkowaniu (poprzez jego "przerzucalność" na kolejne fazy obrotu). W Polsce został on wprowadzony przez: Ustawę z dnia 8 stycznia 1993 r. o podatku od towarów i usług oraz o podatku akcyzowym (Dz. U. Nr 11 poz. 50). Jednak konieczność harmonizacji polskiego prawa podatkowego z prawem UE zmusiła polskiego ustawodawcę do uregulowania tej kwestii w nowej "Ustawie o podatku od towarów i usług" z dnia 11 marca 2004 roku.
