A vapor (American spelling) or vapour (see spelling differences) is a substance in the gas phase at a temperature lower than its critical point. This means that the vapor can be condensed to a liquid or to a solid by increasing its pressure without reducing the temperature.

Als Dampf bezeichnet man ein Gas, das im allgemeinen noch in Kontakt mit der flüssigen bzw. festen Phase steht, aus der es durch Verdampfung bzw. Sublimation hervorgegangen ist.

Ånga, gasform av ett normalt sett flytande ämne, ofta då det är fördelat i luft. Ånga kan finnas i faserna "fuktig", "mättad" och "överhettad". Ånga används bland annat för uppvärmning samt drift av ångturbiner och ångmaskiner.

Più in generale, il termine vapore indica lo stato di un qualsiasi aeriforme che si trovi a una temperatura inferiore alla propria temperatura critica; quando si trova al di sopra di questa l'aeriforme è detto gas.
