Bos taurus
Los bovinos son animales domésticos, de la subfamilia Bovinae de la familia Bovidae. Se crían a lo largo y ancho del planeta por su carne, su leche y su piel. También se emplean en los espectáculos taurinos.
A las hembras se les llama vaca y a los machos toros (si han sido castrados entonces son bueyes). Los críos de la vaca son los terneros o becerros y los ejemplares jóvenes son conocidos como novillos.
La cría y utilización de estos animales por parte del hombre se conoce como ganado bovino.
