Ureaplasma urealyticum is a bacterium belonging to the family Mycoplasmataceae. Its type strain is T960. U. urealyticum is part of the normal genital flora of both men and women. It is found in about 70% of sexually active humans. It can also cause disease, including non-specific urethritis (NSU), infertility, chorioamnioitis, stillbirth, premature birth, and, in the perinatal period, pneumonia or meningitis.

Ureaplasma urealyticum es una bacteria perteneciente a la familia Mycoplasmataceae. La cepa típica es T960. U. urealyticum es parte normal de la flora genital tanto de hombres como de mujeres, pues se encuentra en cerca del 70% de los humanos activos sexualmente. También puede causar enfermedades, incluyendo uretriris no específica (NSU), infertilidad, corioamnionitis, aborto, nacimiento prematuro y, en el período perinatal, neumonía o meningitis.

Ureaplasma je rod drobných bakterií z celedi Mycoplasmataceae. Od ostatních bakterií trídy Mollicutes se odlišuje tím, že má ureázu (enzym schopný rozkládat mocovinu) a podle toho je odvozen název. Další urcování techto bakterií na úrovni druhu se provádí pomocí sérologických testu (dle antigenu), analýzou proteinu a dle GC obsahu. Nekteré jsou patogenní.
