The Tribulation (or "Great Tribulation") is an event referred to in the New Testament of the Bible at ("For then shall be great tribulation..." - King James Version) and other passages. In the futurist view of Christian eschatology, the Tribulation is a relatively short period of time where believers will experience worldwide persecution and be purified and strengthened by it. This view was introduced to the modern church by John Nelson Darby, the father of dispensationalism, became widely accepted through the notes in the Scofield Reference Bible of 1909, and was recently popularized through the novels in the Left Behind series.

Tribulation (ook bekend onder de naam Apocalypse III: Tribulation) is een Amerikaanse christelijke actie- en sciencefiction-speelfilm uit 2000, uitgebracht door Cloud Ten Pictures. De titel Tribulation is het Engelse woord voor Grote Verdrukking. De film speelt zich af in de eindtijd.

A expressão Grande Tribulação refere-se a um período de tempo descrito na Bíblia como sendo de grande aflição mundial. Seu nome se origina do livro bíblico de Mateus, capítulo 24, versículo 21: "porque haverá então uma tribulação tão grande, como nunca houve desde o princípio do mundo até agora, nem jamais haverá"Há entendimentos diferentes a respeito da grande tribulação. Alguns acreditam que ela começará somente após o Arrebatamento onde os cristãos verdadeiros serão salvos, sendo que neste caso apenas os impenitentes teriam que suportar a grande tribulação. Já outros acreditam que os cristãos verdadeiros e todo o resto da humanidade terão que suportar a grande tribulação, sendo que neste caso os cristãos verdadeiros terão que perseverar até o fim.
