This article is about the Hebrew tribe. For the musical band see: Tribe of Judah (band) The Tribe of Judah (Hebrew: , "Praise";  Standard Hebrew , Tiberian Hebrew ) was one of the Tribes of Israel. At its height, it was the leading tribe of the Kingdom of Judah, and occupied most of the territory of the kingdom, except for a small region in the north east occupied by Benjamin, and an enclave towards the south west which was occupied by Simeon.

Segundo teólogos e alguns historiadores, por volta do século XV a.C. ocorreu o Êxodo dos hebreus do Egipto para a terra de Canaã. A narração do livro do Êxodo descreve esta época, e posiciona a tribo de Judá como a mais numerosa de todas as tribos de Israel (desconsiderando-se a tribo de José, tradicionalmente dividida entre as meia-tribos de Efraim e Manassés).

שבט יהודה הנו אחד משנים-עשר שבטי ישראל המוזכרים בתנ"ך. השבט נקרא על שם יהודה, בנו של יעקב, אשר כל בני השבט הם צאצאיו. כיום רוב היהודים מתייחסים על שבט יהודה. על פי הפירוש, האבן שמייצגת אותו היא אבן הנופך שאותה נשא אהרון הכהן עם שאר האבנים הטובות שנשא על ליבו.
