Thermochemistry
Thermochemistry is the study of the energy and heat associated with chemical reactions and/or physical transformations. A reaction may release or absorb energy, and a phase change may do the same, such as in melting and boiling. Thermochemistry focuses on these energy changes, particularly on the system's energy exchange with its surroundings. Thermochemistry is useful in predicting reactant and product quantities throughout the course of a given reaction. In combination with entropy determinations, it is also used to predict whether a reaction is spontaneous or non-spontaneous, favorable or unfavorable.

Thermochemie
Thermochemie ist ein Teilbereich der Chemie, der sich mit dem Zusammenhang von Wärme und chemischen Reaktionen beschäftigt. Allgemein gesprochen ist Thermochemie Thermodynamik angewandt auf Chemie. Man verwendet den Begriff Thermochemie auch als Synonym für chemische Thermodynamik.

Thermochimie
La thermochimie est une partie de la chimie qui étudie les phénomènes thermiques qui accompagnent les réactions chimiques. Certaines réactions peuvent dégager de la chaleur, elles sont exothermiques et d’autres en absorbent, elles sont endothermiques. Marcellin Berthelot est considéré comme le fondateur de la thermochimie. Il créa la bombe calorimétrique et participa au perfectionnement du calorimètre. La bombe calorimétrique, qui est une très grande invention, permet de mesurer le pouvoir calorifique d’un combustible; la capacité d’un combustible à produire de l’énergie. Mise au point en 1881, elle est encore en usage aujourd’hui.

Termodynamika chemiczna
Termodynamika chemiczna to dział nauki z pogranicza fizyki i chemii (zaliczany do chemii fizycznej) badająca energetyczne aspekty reakcji chemicznych.
Termodynamika chemiczna stosuje aparat matematyczny i pojęciowy wypracowany przez termodynamikę ogólną. Posługuje się funkcjami stanu znanymi w termodynamice, a zwłaszcza entropią, entalpią i energią swobodną.
Oprócz ogólnych funkcji stanu termodynamika chemiczna wypracowała szereg pojęć charakterystycznych tylko dla niej. Najważniejsze z nich to:
- entalpia reakcji
- entropia reakcji
- energia swobodna reakcji
- entalpia tworzenia wiązania
- standardowa entalpia tworzenia związku chemicznego
- standardowa entropia związku chemicznego
- standardowe ciepło spalania
- molowe ciepło właściwe
- równowaga reakcji chemicznej
- stała równowagi reakcji (stała równowagi chemicznej)
- reakcja kontrolowana termodynamicznie
- trwałość termodynamiczna związku chemicznego
