Theology is reasoned discourse about God or the gods, or more generally about religion or spirituality. Theologians use various forms of analysis and argument (philosophicalethnographichistorical) to help understandexplain, test, critique, defend or promote any of a myriad of religious topics. It might be undertaken to help the theologianunderstand more truly his or her own religious tradition,understand more truly another religious tradition,make comparisons between religious traditions,defend a religious tradition,facilitate reform of a particular tradition,assist in the propagation of a religious tradition, ordraw on the resources of a tradition to address some present situation or need, or for a variety of other reasons.

Théologie
La théologie (du grec θεολογία , littéralement « discours sur la divinité ou le divin, le Θεός [Theos] ») est l'étude, qui se veut rationnelle, des réalités relatives au divin, même si d'autres disciplines, en particulier la philosophie, la psychologie ou la sociologie, la philologie, rendent compte de Dieu, des croyances et du « fait religieux ». Dans les religions monothéistes surtout, elle est considérée comme la science de la Révélation, fondée sur l'étude des textes religieux, leur interprétation, dans le but d'éclairer le croyant ou le fidèle sur la façon d'agir ou de croire selon sa religion.
