The Seeds were a 1960s rock band whose raw and abrasive energy and simple, repetitive lyrics came to exemplify the garage rock style. They were based in Los Angeles, California. Lead singer and bass guitarist Sky Saxon was heavily influenced by Mick Jagger, and the group promoted the fact that blues great Muddy Waters once called them "America's own Rolling Stones." Keyboardist  Daryl Hooper was a major factor in the band's sound; the band was one of the first to utilize keyboard bass; guitarist Jan Savage and drummer Rick Andridge completed the original quartet. Rhythm guitarist Jeremy Levine originally played in early shows, but he was never recognized as a member of the band and soon split due to personal reasons.

The Seeds war eine Musikgruppe aus Los Angeles (USA) und zählt zu den bekannteren Vertretern des Garage- und Psychedelic Rock. Die Band wurde 1965 von Sky Saxon (Sänger, Bass, Mundharmonika) gegründet. Weitere Mitglieder waren Daryl Hooper (Orgel), Jan Savage (Gitarre) und Rick Andrige (Schlagzeug).Die Musik des ersten Albums The Seeds war sehr einfach und zeichnet sich durch einen rohen, ungeschliffenen Klang aus. Die Single-Auskoppelung (Your) Pushin' Too Hard erreichte durch häufigen Einsatz im lokalen Radio Platz 36 in den Billboard-Charts. Das Lied war der größte kommerzielle Erfolg der Band. Das anschließende Album A Web Of Sound war nur wenig komplexer, aber professioneller produziert. Das Album war psychedelischer und damit auch zeitgemäßer. So kam das dritte Album Future in den Billboard Charts bis auf Platz 87. Das Album nutzte die Hippie Bewegung und gab sich mit Titeln wie March Of The Flower Children als sehr zeitnah. Es war auch die aufwendigste Produktion der Band. So waren der original Schallplatte bedruckte Puzzleteile beigelegt, um das Bild der vorderen Plattenhülle zu vervollständigen. Mit dem Kollaps der Hippie-Bewegung 1969 löste sich die Band auf.

The Seeds è un gruppo Garage Rock formato a Los Angeles nel 1965 da Sky Saxon (vero nome: Richard Marsh); raggiunse il successo con il singolo Pushin' Too Hard. Come molti gruppi californiani dell'epoca (Doors, Music Machine) il gruppo dava grande spazio all'organo, ma la durezza del sound, l'ossessivo ripetersi degli accordi, il cantato aggressivo di Saxon conferivano al gruppo uno stile quasi punk. Il gruppo si sciolse all'inizio degli anni 1970 e Saxon abbracciò il misticismo aderendo ad una enigmatica setta religiosa nelle Hawaii. Negli anni il gruppo ha avuto diverse rifondazioni e nel 2005, con una nuova formazione, Saxon ha ripreso a fare tournée.

Ellos se fundaron en Los Angeles California.El vocalista líder Sky Saxon fue fuertemente influenciado por Mick Jagger. El tecladista Daryl Hooper fue el que más aporte musical dio para el sonido de esta banda; The Seeds fue una de las primera bandas en usar un teclado por bajo (como Ray Manzarek, el tecladista de The Doors). El guitarrista Jan Savage y el baterista Rick Andridge completaron el cuarteto; el vocalista Sky tocaba la guitarra pero haciendo los bajos.
