The Sugarcubes (Sykurmolarnir in Icelandic) were an Icelandic alternative rock band formed in 1986 and disbanded in 1992. They received critical and popular acclaim internationally.

The Sugarcubes (isländisch Sykurmolarnir, übersetzt Würfelzucker) waren eine Alternative-Band aus Island, mit der die Sängerin Björk über ihre isländische Heimat hinaus Bekanntheit erlangte.

The Sugarcubes
The Sugarcubes est un groupe de musique islandais de pop-rock fondé en 1986, séparé en 1992 et reformé pour un concert unique en novembre 2006 en Islande. Il a eu la faveur des critiques des États-Unis et du Royaume-Uni. Le son typique du groupe est lunatique et souvent senti comme venant du fond du cœur. Il est d'autant plus marqué par la voix de jeune enfant de la chanteuse Björk Guðmundsdóttir qui a par la suite poursuivi une carrière solo avec succès.

The Sugarcubes
The Sugarcubes (isländska: Sykurmolarnir) var en isländsk popgrupp. The Sugarcubes, som bildades 1986, växte fram på en mycket aktiv kulturscen i Reykjavik i mitten av 1980-talet och gruppen ville med sin musik och sina framträdanden driva med den etablerade musikvärlden och de klyschor som denna sades innehålla. Gruppen blev mycket känd såväl nationellt som internationellt. Gruppen och projektet upplöstes 1992, men förenades tillfälligt för en välgörenhetskonsert på Laugardalshöll arena i Reykjavik den 17 november 2006.

The Sugarcubes - islandzka grupa muzyczna, która powstała latem 1986 z inicjatywy kilku członków KUKL. Najbardziej znanym członkiem zespołu była wokalistka Björk.
Islandzka nazwa zespołu to Sykurmolarnir (isl. kostki cukru), ale grupa znana jest bardziej pod angielską nazwą The Sugarcubes. Pierwszy singel, "Ammæli" (nagrali także wersję angielską "Birthday"), stał się hitem w Wielkiej Brytanii. Zyskał także pewne uznanie w USA. Wkrótce pojawiły się oferty wytwórni, z których artyści wybrali firmę One Little Indian. W 1988 nagrali w niej swój pierwszy album Life's Too Good, który zdobył międzynarodowy rozgłos. Sugarcubes byli pierwszym islandzkim zespołem rockowym, który zdobył taką sławę.
