Interactive fiction
Interactive fiction, often abbreviated IF, describes
software simulating environments in which players use text
commands to control
characters and influence the environment. Works in this form can be understood as literary
narratives and as
computer games. In common usage, the word refers to text adventures, a type of
adventure game with text-based input and output. The term is sometimes used to encompass the entirety of the medium, but is also sometimes used to distinguish games produced by the interactive fiction community from those created by games companies. It can also be used to distinguish the more modern style of such works, focusing on narrative and not necessarily falling into the adventure game
genre at all, from the more traditional focus on
puzzles. More expansive definitions of interactive fiction may refer to all adventure games, including wholly graphical adventures such as
Myst.

Une fiction interactive, ou jeu d'aventure textuel, est un
jeu vidéo à mi-chemin entre les
livres-jeu et les jeux de rôles. Les commandes sont entrées au clavier pour interagir avec l'histoire racontée. Ce style est donc à mi-chemin entre jeu informatique et littérature, c'est pourquoi il est souvent assimilé à de la littérature électronique.

Ficção intera(c)tiva descreve um
software que simula um ambiente virtual, no qual jogadores interagem através de comandos controlando os
personagens do jogo. Há basicamente a descrição de uma cena experimentada pelo personagem, como por exemplo: "Vocês está numa sala vazia. Há uma porta a sua frente". O jogador então poderia entrar o comando: "abrir a porta", e o jogo responderia, por exemplo: "A porta está trancada".

Interactive Fiction (дословно —
интерактивная литература, IF; текстовые квесты; adventure — «адвенчуры») — жанр компьютерных игр, в котором общение с игроком осуществляется посредством текстовой информации. Развитие этого жанра, в связи с низким требованием к ресурсам, началось весьма давно, и не прекратилось даже с появлением графических игр. Существуют два вида интерфейса — интерфейс с вводом текста с клавиатуры или интерфейс в виде меню, где игрок выбирает действие из нескольких предложенных (CYOA — Choose Your Own Adventure).
