Tenor
The tenor is a type of male singing voice and is the highest male voice within the modal register. The typical tenor voice lies between C3, the C one octave below middle C, to the A above middle C (A4) in choral music, and up to tenor C (C5) in solo work. The low extreme for tenors is roughly B2 (two Bs below middle C). At the highest extreme, some tenors can sing up to two Fs above middle C (F5).

Tenor
Tenor (Stimmlage)
Als Tenor (Betonung auf der zweiten Silbe, Pl. Tenöre) wird sowohl die hohe männliche Gesangs-Stimmlage als auch ein Sänger (früher auch: Tenorist) mit dieser Stimmlage bezeichnet. Die Bezeichnung bildete sich mit der beginnenden Mehrstimmigkeit heraus, als man die Stimme, die den Cantus firmus hielt, Tenor (lat. tenere „halten“) nannte, während die umspielenden Gegenstimmen Contratenor hießen. Die Notation der Tenorstimme erfolgt im Normalfall oktavierend im Violinschlüssel.

Tenor
Tenor (uttalas med o- eller å-ljud) är en stämma inom solosång och körsång. Tenor är den högsta herrstämman (om man bortser från kontratenor), och motsvarar ett tonomfång mellan c i lilla oktaven och ettstrukna a, möjligen upp till tvåstrukna c (höga c). Om termens ursprung, se cantus firmus.

Tenor
Tenor to rodzaj głosu ludzkiego. Mianem tym określa się również osoby śpiewające tym głosem.
Tenor jest najwyższym głosem męskim osiągalnym rejestrem piersiowym (patrz: technika śpiewu). Zwykle obejmuje zakres od c do c2.
Nazwa głosu pochodzi od włoskiego słowa "tenere" (pol. podtrzymywać). Na początku rozwoju polifonii wokalnej, w muzyce średniowiecznej, tenor zawsze wykonywał partię cantus firmus, podtrzymując głos wysoki (nazywany "cantus", mniej więcej w skali sopranu), który wykonywał inną melodię. W dalszym rozwoju dodano trzeci głos, wyższy niż tenor, śpiewający melodię odnoszącą się do cantus firmus, niejako przeciw tenorowi (contratenor altus, czyli wysoki (=altus) głos śpiewający partię konkurującą z partią tenorową). Następnie dodano kolejny głos, niższy (contratenor bassus, czyli głos niski (=bassus) śpiewający partię również konkurującą z partią tenorową). W ten sposób stworzono podstawowy skład polifoniczny podobny do obecnie nam znanego: cantus, contratenor altus, tenor, contratenor bassus. Dla ułatwienia odrzucono potem słowa "contratenor", tworząc nazewnictwo "cantus - altus - tenor - bassus" upodobnione do stosowanego w naszych czasach, znane już w renesansie i używane częściowo również w baroku.
