temporal lobe

The temporal lobes are part of the cerebrum. They lie at the sides of the brain, beneath the lateral or Sylvian fissure. Seen in profile, the human brain looks something like a boxing glove. The temporal lobes are where the thumbs would be.The temporal lobe is involved in auditory processing and is home to the primary auditory cortex. It is also heavily involved in semantics both in speech and vision. The temporal lobe contains the hippocampus and is therefore involved in memory formation as well.

Le lobe temporal est une région du cerveau des vertébrés située derrière l'os temporal des tempes, dans la partie latérale et inférieure du cerveau. C'est une zone importante pour de nombreuses fonctions cognitives, dont notamment l'audition, le langage et la mémoire.

De temporale kwabben (Latijn: lobi temporales, enkelvoud: lobus temporalis) of slaapkwabben zijn een deel van de hersenen. Ze behoren tot het telencephalon en zijn gelegen aan beide zijkanten, ongeveer boven de oren. De temporale kwabben bevatten onder andere de hippocampi en de amygdala.

Temporallob eller tinninglob är en del av storhjärnan som visas i grön färg på bilden. Här finns funktioner för hörsel. Den är också involverad i semantik både i tal och syn. Temporalloben innehåller hippocampus och är därför involverad även i minnesbildningen.
