Temple
A temple (from the Latin word ) is a structure reserved for religious or spiritual activities, such as prayer and sacrifice, or analogous rites. A templum constituted a sacred precinct as defined by a priest, or augur. It has the same root as the word "template," a plan in preparation of the building that was marked out on the ground by the augur. Templa also became associated with the dwelling places of a god or gods. The word "temple" dates to about the 6th century BCE. Despite the specific set of meanings associated with the religion of the ancient Rome, the word has now become quite widely used to describe a house of worship for any number of religions and is even used for time periods prior to the Romans.

Tempel
Tempel (von lateinisch templum) ist die deutsche Bezeichnung von Gebäuden, die seit dem Neolithikum in vielen Religionen als Heiligtum dienten. Der älteste Bau, auf den die Bezeichnung direkt angewendet wird, ist der maltesische Tempel (ab 3800 v. Chr.).

Temple
En général, un temple grec est un lieu, un espace, sacré placé sous la protection d'une divinité et où un rite est pratiqué. Par extension, un temple est un édifice religieux où se célèbre le culte rendu à une divinité. Dans le sens le plus courant en France aujourd'hui, c'est l'édifice religieux des protestants réformés. Certains villages portant ce nom se réfèrent par contre à un ancien établissement des Templiers. C'est aussi le lieu de réunion d'une loge maçonnique : voir temple maçonnique.

Temple
Tempel
Ett tempel är en byggnad som är avsedd för religionsutövning, till exempel böner, offerritualer och andra riter. Templet är i många religioner den centrala platsen för dyrkan och tillbedjan och anses vara en helgedom. Ordet tempel kommer från latinets templum och dateras tillbaka till 600-talet f.Kr. Inom många religioner använder man dock andra ord än tempel för byggnaden. Första templet byggdes i Mesopotamien.

Świątynia - budowla dla celów religijnych, miejsce kultu, składania ofiar, celebrowania obrzędów. Najstarsza znana świątynia powstała w Eridu w Mezopotamii 4500 lat p.n.e.
