The cerebrum or telencephalon, together with the diencephalon, constitutes the forebrain. In humans, the cerebrum is the most superior region of the vertebrate central nervous system. However, in the majority of animals, the cerebrum is the most anterior region of the CNS as the anatomical position of animals is rarely in the upright position. Telencephalon refers to the embryonic structure from which the mature cerebrum develops. In mammals, the dorsal telencephalon, or pallium, develops into the cerebral cortex, and the ventral telencephalon, or subpallium, becomes the basal ganglia. The cerebrum is also divided into approximately symmetric left and right cerebral hemispheres.

Das Telencephalon (Endhirn) ist ein Teil des Zentralnervensystems. Es ist der größte der fünf Hirnabschnitte. Meist werden „Endhirn“ und Großhirn synonym verwendet.

En neuroanatomie des vertébrés, le télencéphale désigne ce qu'on appelle couramment le cerveau. Plus spécifiquement, il s'agit de l'ensemble constitué par les hémisphères cérébraux (cortex cérébral, substance blanche et structures sous-corticales) et des structures associées.

Storhjärnan (även cerebrum eller telencephalon) är en del av hjärnan och därmed det centrala nervsystemet hos ryggradsdjur. Endast hos de större däggdjuren dominerar den storleksmässigt och förtjänar benämningen storhjärna.

Isoaivot on aivojen suurin ja kaikkein etummaisina oleva osa. Ne myös peittävät aivojen muut osat alleen. Isoaivot on jakautunut kahteen uurteen rajaamaan osaan, vasempaan ja oikeaan puoliskoon. Puoliskoja yhdistää aivokurkiainen. Molemmat puoliskot sisältävät kaksi aivo-selkäydinnesteen täyttämää aivokammiota. Aivo-selkäydinneste suojaa aivoja äkkinäisiltä liikkeiltä.Isoaivojen reunoilla on aivokuori, joka on n. 3mm paksu. Aivokuori on voimakkaasti poimuttunut ja sen osa-alueet ovat: aistihavainnot, älyllinen toiminta, puheen säätely sekä liikkeiden tahdonalainen säätely.
