Telegraphy
Telegraph (from Greek: τηλε "far", and γραφειν "writing") is the long-distance transmission of messages without the physical exchange of an object bearing the message. Thus semaphore is a method of telegraphy whereas pigeon post is not.

Telegrafie
Als Telegrafie (gr. telé „weit“, „fern“ und -grafie) bezeichnet man verschiedene Formen der Übermittlung von Texten über mehr oder weniger weite Entfernungen. Im Gegensatz zum Sprechfunk und der Telefonie wird bei der Telegrafie nicht gesprochen, sondern die Buchstaben werden über einen Code übertragen. Die Übertragung funktioniert gleichzeitig nur in eine Richtung, im Gegensatz zur bidirektionalen Verbindung via Telefon.

Telegraf
Telegraf urządzenie do przekazywania informacji, przeważnie tekstowych, na odległość.
Telegraf igiełkowy skonstruowali w 1833 roku w Getyndze uczeni niemieccy Carl Friedrich Gauss i Wilhelm Weber.
Pierwszy elektryczny telegraf zbudowany został w 1837 przez angielskiego fizyka i wynalazcę, Sir Charles'a Wheatstone'a. Telegraf ten wykorzystywał pięć przewodów do kierowania wskazówką w odbiorniku, która wskazywała różne litery alfabetu.
