Tegmen
A tegmen (pl. tegmina) designates the modified leathery front wing on an insect. They are not used for flying. Orders that have tegmina are the Dermaptera (earwigs), Orthoptera (grasshopperscrickets), Mantodea (praying mantis) and Blattodea (cockroaches). On crickets, they are modified for song production.
