Taste
Eine Taste oder ein Taster (ital. Tasto, lat. Clavis) ist ein Bedienelement, welches durch Drücken betätigt wird und danach in die Ausgangslage zurückkehrt. Hierfür wird meist eine mechanische Feder eingesetzt. Anders als beim Schalter (der in der jeweiligen Position verbleibt) kann man bei der Taste nicht optisch erkennen, ob sie betätigt worden ist. Erst an der zugehörigen Wirkung ist das erkennbar.

Gustatorische Wahrnehmung
Der Geschmackssinn (auch Gustatorik, Schmecken oder gustatorische Wahrnehmung) ist der chemische Nahsinn, der der Kontrolle der aufgenommenen Nahrung dient. Bitterer und saurer Geschmack weisen auf giftige oder verdorbene Lebensmittel hin. Die Geschmacksqualitäten süß, umami und salzig kennzeichnen nährstoffreiche Lebensmittel. Aus diesem Grund befinden sich die Geschmacksorgane stets in den Körperteilen, die der Nahrungsaufnahme dienen.

Chez les animaux, il joue un rôle important dans l'alimentation en permettant d'analyser la saveur des aliments.

Taste
Grundsmak
Grundsmaker är smaker som människan kan känna med hjälp av smaklökar på tungan, i gommen och i svalget. Jämfört med luktsinnet tycks smaksinnet bara särskilja mellan ett fåtal olika smaker. Hos människor och många andra ryggradsdjur samverkar det dock med lukt- och känselsinnet för att i hjärnan skapa den totala smakupplevelsen. Det är ofta svårt att särskilja mellan de sinnesupplevelser som orsakas av stimulering av olika delar av tungan och de luktupplevelser som inträffar samtidigt.

Smak (fizjologia)
Smak to jeden z podstawowych zmysłów dostępnych organizmom - służący do chemicznej analizy składu pokarmu. U wielu organizmów smak i węch nie są oddzielone.
Odczuwany smak pokarmów zależy nie tylko od receptorów smakowych, ale również węchowych. Ludzie mają 5 rodzajów receptorów smakowych, odpowiadających z grubsza ważnym grupom substancji chemicznych znajdujących się w pożywieniu:
- słodki - węglowodany, głównie cukry proste i dwucukry - największe zagęszczenie receptorów słodkiego smaku jest na koniuszku języka;
- słony - sole sodu i potasu, a dokładnie kationy tych metali. Receptory rozrzucone są równo po całym języku;
- kwaśny - i nieorganiczne. Najwięcej receptorów smaku kwaśnego jest na bokach języka;
- gorzki - alkaloidy i wiele soli nieorganicznych. Najwięcej receptorów smaku gorzkiego występuje u nasady języka (tył języka);
- umami - wykrywa obecność kwasu glutaminowego, składnika większości białek, wyczuwalny np. w pomidorach.
