talwar

A talwar, talwaar, or tulwar (Devanagari: तलवार) is a type of sword prevalent in medieval India dating back to at least the 13th century. It bears a resemblance to the Persian shamshir and the Turkish kilic. The difference is that the blade of a talwar is wider than the blade of a shamshir. The blades and hilts of the talwar were often very ornate and featured carvings or gilding. It became a predominantly Rajput weapon while the Mughals relied on the Shamshir. The town of Sirohi in southern Rajasthan produced the lightest blade among talwars. Due to its growing popularity in Mughal India, the talwar was also produced in 19th Century Afghanistan in form of the "Afghani talwar," or pulwar.

Talwar, dewanagari: तलवार, ang. również Tulwar - miecz, a dokładniej szabla indyjska o zakrzywionej  głowni zrobionej ze stali damasceńskiej, wywodząca się od mogolskiej szabli, podobna do perskiej odmiany szamszir. Ewolucja tej szabli jest dobrze udokumentowana dzięki zachowanym miniaturom szkoły timurydzkiej i mogolskiej. Głownie w wiekszości gładkie, niekiedy z kilkoma strudzinami przy tylcu, w okresie schyłkowym często zdobione reliefami z figur ludzkich lub zwierzęcych. Rękojeści z esowatym kabłąkiem prowadzonym od jelca do głowicy, czasami tzw. hinduska rękojeść koszowa lub w stylu perskim. XVIII wieczne talwary majsurskie posiadają głowice w postaci lwiej głowy, zaś końcówki jelców ozdobione są motywem baranich łbów. W polskich zbiorach znajdują się m.in. w Muzeum Wojska Polskiego w Warszawie, w Muzeum Narodowym w Krakowie oraz w Zamku Królewskim na Wawelu.

Тальвар (инд.) — индийская сабля.Отличительной особенностью тальвара является эфес c дискообразным навершием. Клинок слабо или умеренно изогнутый, средней ширины, длиной до 100 см. Иногда вдоль клинка делался сквозной желоб, куда помещался подвижно ряд металлических шариков , эта особенность называлась: моти-давати.

El talwar o tulwar es un sable del indostán, de hoja curva, principalmente de un solo filo y cuya característica principal que los distingue de otros sables turco-musulmanes es su característica empuñadura, de puño aplanado, cortos gavilanes rectos rematados en labores semicirculares, con aro guardamano que sale del gavilán del lado al que cae el filo, acabando la empuñadura en un notable pomo de forma circular aplanada y rematando con apéndice de motivos naturales. La cual, permite técnicas de esgrima diferentes y nativas de la India.
