The telephone is a telecommunications device which is used to transmit and receive sound (most commonly speech). Most telephones operate through transmission of electric signals over a complex telephone network which allows almost any phone user to communicate with almost anyone.

Téléphone was a French rock band formed in 1976 by Jean-Louis Aubert (singer/guitarist), Louis Bertignac (guitarist), Corine Marienneau (bass) and Richard Kolinka (drums).Their first, self-titled album, was released in 1977; by the end of the decade they were one of the biggest French rock bands around (along with heavy rockers Trust), opening shows for The Rolling Stones in Paris, Quebec, the United States and Japan. The band split in 1986 for personal reasons.Among their best-known songs are "Hygiaphone", "Metro c'est trop", "La bombe humaine", "Argent trop cher", "Ça (C'est vraiment toi)", "Cendrillon", "New York avec toi" and "Un autre Monde".

Ein Telefon oder Telephon (v. griech.: tele „fern, weit“ + phone „Stimme“), auch Fernsprecher oder im Fachjargon Fernsprechapparat (FeAp) genannt, ist ein Kommunikationsmittel zur Übermittlung von Tönen und speziell von Sprache mittels elektrischer Signale. Die Begriffe Fernsprecher und Fernsprechaparat gehen auf das Wirken von Heinrich von Stephan zurück, der für den Erhalt der Deutschen Sprache kämpfte und das Stephandeutsch im deutschen Postwesen entwickelte.
