It lies 4 km west of the town of Poprad, in the High Tatra Mountains.Svit is one of the youngest Slovak towns. It was established in 1934 by Bata Shoes Company in accordance with the company policy to set up villages around the factories for the workers. Svit is short for "Slovenské vizkózové továrne" (in English Slovak Viscous Works). Svit is the smallest town in Slovakia (4.5 km²) with the population of 7,400.

The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute of Technology or SVIT is an engineering college in Vasad, Gujarat, India. It has branches of engineering namely, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Instrumentation and Control and also Master of Computer Applications (MCA). It also has Architecture as a course option offered, which is being run with the name of College of Architecture, Vasad. SVIT is an AICTE approved college. AICTE is the All India Council for Technical Education. SVIT is affiliated with the Gujarat University. The majority of the students in SVIT are from Vadodara, a nearby city, due to its proximity with it.

Svit ist eine Stadt am Fuße der Hohen Tatra in der Landschaft Zips (Prešovský kraj, Slowakei) nahe der Stadt Poprad.Die heutige Stadt ist eine Neugründung von 1934, damals zunächst unter dem Namen Batovce (nach dem Konzern Bata, der hier eine Siedlung für die Arbeiter errichten ließ). Zunächst war der Ort ein Teil von Velká, das heute Stadtteil von Poprad ist. Ab 1937 hieß dann der Ortsteil offiziell Svit (steht für die Abkürzung von „Slovenské vizkózové továrne“ [Slowakische Viskosefabrik]). Am 4. Juni 1946 wurde die Gemeinde dann für selbständig erklärt. 1962 hat sie den Stadtstatus zuerkannt bekommen.

Svit (niem. Zwitt, węg. Szvit) - miasto w środkowej Słowacji, w powiecie popradzkim kraju preszowskiego. Położone u stóp Tatr Wysokich nad rzeką Poprad na wysokości 715 m n.p.m. Znajduje się w odległości 5 km na zachód od miasta Poprad. Ludność: 7,5 tys. (2004)Svit jest jednym z najmłodszych miast Słowacji. Zostało założone w 1934 jako osada przyfabryczna przez firmę obuwniczą Bata. Firma ta miała wówczas paternalistyczną politykę tworzenia nowych miejscowości dla swoich pracowników.Nazwa miasta to skrót od Slovenské Vizkózové Továrne, czyli "słowacka fabryka wiskozy".
