subgroup

In group theory, given a group G under a binary operation *, we say that some subset H of G is a subgroup of G if H also forms a group under the operation *. More precisely, H is a subgroup of G if the restriction of * to H is a group operation on H. This is usually represented notationally by H ≤ G, read as "H is a subgroup of G".

In der Gruppentheorie der Mathematik wird eine Untergruppe einer Gruppe  von einer nichtleeren Teilmenge U gebildet, die bezüglich selbst wieder eine Gruppe ist (d.h. sie hat alle Eigenschaften, die eine Gruppe definieren). Die Eigenschaft "Assoziativität" überträgt sich auf Untermengen von G, wohingegen das bei den Eigenschaften "Abgeschlossenheit" und "Inverses Element" nicht der Fall ist.

Podgrupa – podzbiór zbioru elementów grupy który tworzy grupę z tym samym działaniem (ograniczonym do tego podzbioru). Badanie różnych rodzajów podgrup danej grupy dostarcza o niej wielu informacji. Często grupę daje się rozłożyć na iloczyn prosty jej podgrup.

Un sottoinsieme H di un gruppo G è un sottogruppo se è un gruppo con il prodotto definito in G. Ogni gruppo G contiene almeno due sottogruppi: il gruppo G stesso, ed il sottogruppo banale {e} formato unicamente dall'elemento neutro di G. Un sottogruppo si dice proprio se H è un sottoinsieme proprio di G.
