strategy game

A strategy game is a game (e.g. computer, video or board game) in which the players' decision-making skills have a high significance in determining the outcome. Many games include this element to a greater or lesser degree, making demarcation difficult. It is therefore more accurate to describe a particular game as having a certain degree of strategic elements, as in being mainly based around strategic principles.

Strategy is a solitaire card game which uses a deck of 52 playing cards. It belongs to the same family as Sir Tommy and Calculation, and this can be regarded as the more difficult cousin of Sir Tommy.The cards in the deck are dealt one at a time. Aces, whenever they appear, are placed onto the foundations and are built up by suit. Cards that cannot yet be built are placed on any one of eight wastepiles, the top cards of which are available for play. Once a card is placed on a wastepile, the next place it will go is to foundations; it cannot be moved to another wastepile.

Un jeu de stratégie peut être un jeu de société ou un jeu vidéo. Le but est de réaliser un objectif connu : augmenter sa domination spatiale, combattre un ou plusieurs ennemis sur un terrain de jeu, faire prospérer une entité… L'accent n'est pas mis sur l'adresse du joueur mais sur la planification de l'action (tactique ou stratégique).

Ein Strategiespiel ist ein Spiel, in dem es keinen oder fast keinen Glücks- bzw. Zufallsanteil gibt. Bei reinen Strategiespielen (also ganz ohne Zufallselemente) kann man deshalb prinzipiell in jeder Spielsituation das Ergebnis bei perfektem Spiel aller Spieler ausrechnen. Praktisch sind die Spiele häufig zu komplex, um sie zu berechnen. Strategiespiele erfordern von den Spielern, ein möglichst den gesamten Spielverlauf umfassendes Vorgehen zu entwickeln. Anders als bei purer Taktik geht es nicht nur darum, den vorangegangenen Spielzug beziehungsweise den anschließend folgenden in seine Überlegungen einzubeziehen, sondern mehrere Spielzüge im Voraus zu denken.

Komputerowa gra strategiczna jest to program służący jako jedno, bądź wieloosobowa gra, w której wygrana zależy nie tylko od losu, ale przede wszystkim od strategii, wiedzy i planowania. Takie gry mogą wymagać od użytkownika np. umiejętności dowodzenia oddziałami wojska, lub zarządzania kapitałem przedsiębiorstwa.

Un gioco di strategia è tipicamente un gioco da tavolo o un videogioco nel quale le capacità di prendere decisioni di un giocatore hanno un grande impatto nel determinare il risultato. Molti giochi includono questo elemento in grado minore o maggiore, rendendo difficile stabilire una demarcazione, è pertanto più adeguato parlare del grado di strategia di un gioco, piuttosto che del fatto che sia o meno un gioco di strategia.
