Strategos
Strategos, plural strategoi, (; Doric Greek: στραταγός, stratagos; literally meaning "army leader") is used in Greek to mean "general". In the Hellenistic and Byzantine Empires the term was also used to describe a military governor. In the modern Hellenic Army, it is the highest officer rank.

Strateg (Grecja)
Strateg ( strategos, l.mn. strategoi) – w starożytnej Grecji wysoki rangą dowódca w armii lub flocie.
W Sparcie stratedzy byli mianowani na czas wojny i mogli w zastępstwie króla objąć stanowisko głównodowodzącego.
W Atenach od czasów Klejstenesa był to stały urząd – rokrocznie eklezja (zgromadzenie ludowe) wybierała 10 strategoi, po jednym z każdej fyli; każdy z nich dowodził oddziałem hoplitów wystawianych przez odpowiednią fylę. O urząd można było się ubiegać wielokrotnie.

Strategos
In greco, strategós (στρατηγός, plurale strategoi, στρατηγόι) significa "generale" (nell'italiano si trovano i derivati stratega e strategia). In epoca bizantina, la carica di strategós indicò prima il capo di un reggimento imperiale e poi, dal VII secolo, l'amministratore di un thema, ovvero di una regione (che in genere era la regione assegnata al reggimento).
