Börsenmakler
Im deutschsprachigen Raum steht die Bezeichnung Börsenmakler, oder auch nur Makler, für einen Vermittler, der an der Börse Effektengeschäfte ausführt. Dabei wird zwischen amtlichen Maklern (auch Kursmakler genannt) und freien Maklern unterschieden.

Agent de change
En France, le statut d'agent de change a disparu en 1989, pour être remplacé par celui de Société de bourse. Très peu d'entreprises indépendantes subsistent aujourd'hui parmi les anciennes charges d'agents de change.

Société de courtage
Une société de courtage ou courtier (broker en anglais) est une entreprise ou une personne qui sert d'intermédiaire pour une opération, le plus souvent financière, entre deux parties. L'activité de courtage est réglementée dans de nombreux pays, afin de protéger les intervenants sur le marché.

Makler papierów wartosciowych
Makler papierów wartościowych - (broker) osoba zawodowo zajmująca się pośrednictwem w transakcjach kupna i sprzedaży papierów wartościowych (np. akcji czy obligacji) dla klienta, w zamian za wynagrodzenie ustalane w procentach od wartości transakcji (prowizja). Maklerzy zrzeszeni są w domach maklerskich bo tylko one jako członkowie giełdy mogą bezpośrednio uczestniczyć w obrocie papierami wartościowymi na giełdzie. Maklerzy dokonują więc transakcji w imieniu danego domu maklerskiego, a pośrednio w imieniu klienta, który ma w nim rachunek inwestycyjny.

Broker
Il broker è un intermediario finanziario che offre un servizio di negoziazione di titoli per conto terzi.
Il broker ha il compito di trasmettere al mercato le offerte di acquisto o di vendita trasmessegli dai suoi clienti: in pratica l'intermediario non fa altro che "rigirare" al mercato le proposte degli investitori.
Il broker quindi non assume una parte attiva nella transazione, né tantomeno propone delle sue offerte al mercato: il suo profitto è quindi generato solamente dalle commissioni (fee) che richiede per ogni operazione portata a buon fine; le commissioni possono essere fisse (un tot per operazione) o a percentuale (una percentuale del valore dell'operazione).
