stellar association

A stellar association, or moving group, is a very loose star cluster, looser than both open clusters and globular clusters. Stellar associations will normally contain from 10 to 100 or more stars. The stars share a common origin, but have become gravitationally unbound and are still moving together through space. Moving groups are primarily identified by their common movement vectors and ages. Identification by chemical composition is also used to factor in moving group memberships.

Une association stellaire, terme introduit en 1949 par l'astrophysicien géorgien Viktor Amazaspovitch Ambartsumian, est un groupe d'étoiles dont le même mouvement propre trahit une origine commune. Contrairement à un amas stellaire au sein duquel les étoiles sont en interaction gravitationnelle, les étoiles d'une association ne sont plus soumises à cette force.

Als Sternassoziation bezeichnet man in der Astronomie eine lose Gruppierung von 5 bis 100 jungen Sternen, deren Mitglieder physikalisch ähnliche Eigenschaften besitzen. Sie sind i.a. nur wenig gegen ein Zentrum konzentriert – so dass sie sich manchmal kaum gegen den Sternhintergrund abheben – und daher gravitativ nicht aneinander gebunden. Wenn sie eine sehr ähnliche Bewegungsrichtung haben, kann man sie auch zu den Sternströmen zählen.

Asocjacje gwiazdowe to ugrupowania gwiazd odkryte w 1947 roku przez W. Ambarcumiana, które składają się głównie z gorących olbrzymów typów widmowych O-B. Wyróżnia się 2 rodzaje asocjacji: asocjacje OB, zawierające gwiazdy typów widmowych O-B2, oraz asocjacje T, zawierające w największej części gwiazdy zmienne typu T Tauri.

In astronomia si definisce associazione stellare un ammasso stellare caratterizzato da un legame gravitazione molto debole, addirittura meno intenso di quello che mantiene uniti gli ammassi aperti e gli ammassi globulari. Le associazioni stellari vennero scoperte dall'astrofisico russo-armeno Viktor Ambartsumian nel 1947.
