stage (theatre)

In theatre, the stage (sometimes referred to as the deck in stagecraft) is a designated space for the performance of theatrical productions. The stage serves as a space for actors or performers and a focal point for the members of the audience. As an architectural feature, the stage may consist of a platform (often raised) or series of platforms. In some cases, these may be temporary or adjustable but in theaters and other buildings devoted to such productions, the stage is often a permanent feature.

La scène (du grec σκηνη, skènè : tente, lieu couvert) désigne, au théâtre, l’aire de jeu (avant-scène comprise) et les coulisses, par rapport à la salle où sont les spectateurs, où jouent les acteurs. On l’appelle également, dans le jargon du théâtre, le plateau.

Die Bühne (auch Szene) ist der Ort, an dem sich ein Theaterspiel ereignet. In Versammlungsstätten mit Bühnenhaus ist die Bühne der hinter der Bühnenöffnung (Portal) liegende Raum mit Szenenflächen. Zur Bühne zählen die Vorbühne (vor dem Portal), die Hauptbühne sowie die Hinter- und Seitenbühnen einschließlich der jeweils zugehörigen Ober- und Unterbühnen.

Il palcoscenico (o palco) è l'elemento della scena sopra cui si svolge l'azione teatrale. In genere costituito di tavole di legno, all'interno di un edificio teatrale. Il palcoscenico nasce con la costruzione degli antichi teatri romani. Precedentemente nel teatro greco gli attori recitavano nell'orchestra (lo spazio semicircolare circondato dalle gradinate).
