sinicization

Sinicization, Sinicisation or Sinification, is the linguistic assimilation or cultural assimilation of terms and concepts into the language and culture of China. In linguistics, the term is used narrowly to refer to transliteration, and in this regard "Sinicization" is parallel to Romanization.In more general contexts, Sinicization refers to the process of "becoming Chinese" or "not Chinese" (desinicization). The term has been used in social science primarily to describe the assimilation of non-Han Chinese peoples (such as the Manchus) into the Chinese identity. As with most assimilation topics, historical or otherwise, the concept of "Sinicization" itself is criticised by some social scientists, who claim the term is simply one form of cultural assimilation, and that applying a special term to Chinese assimilation (past and present) implies some special distinct process not found in cultural Americanization or Romanization. Objectively, it is simply a term for Chinese assimilation, just as the other terms relates American and Roman assimilation respectively.

Sinisierung bedeutet, eine gesellschaftliche Kultur chinesisch zu formen. Sie könnte als eine Form der Transkulturation betrachtet oder auch als "die Kultur Chinas in den Mittelpunkt stellender  Akkulturationsprozess" beschrieben werden. Dieses Wort kann einerseits die Umschrift ausländischer Sprachen ins Chinesische bedeuten, andererseits wird es häufig in den Sozialwissenschaften verwendet, um die Assimilierung von Völkern an die chinesische Kultur zu beschreiben. So wurden die Mandschu sinisiert, als sie während der Qing-Dynastie die Kaiser von China stellten.

Sinizacja - proces przyswajania (lub narzucania) języka i/lub kultury chińskiej. W językoznawstwie sinizacja to "zchińszczanie" obcych wyrazów.Sinizacja, podobnie jak i inne procesy asymilacyjne zachodzi w sytuacji, gdy element chiński zaczyna wyraźnie dominować w danej społeczności, zaś przyjęcie języka chińskiego wiąże się z podniesieniem własnego prestiżu, statusu społecznego itp. Współcześnie sinizacja - w dużej mierze wymuszona - zachodzi w Tybecie i Sinkiangu. Ulegają jej również liczne mniejszości narodowe zamieszkujące Chiny.
