SILK
SILK is an audio compression format and audio codec used by Skype. It is developed by Skype Limited. SILK is a replacement for the SVOPC codec. It has been extended to the Opus codec.

Silk
Silk is a natural protein fiber, some forms of which can be woven into textiles. The protein fiber of silk is composed mainly of fibroin and produced by certain insect larvae to form cocoons. The best-known type of silk is obtained from the cocoons of the larvae of the mulberry silkworm Bombyx mori reared in captivity (sericulture). The shimmering appearance of silk is due to the triangular prism-like structure of the silk fiber, which allows silk cloth to refract incoming light at different angles, thus producing different colors.

Seide
Seide ist eine feine Textilfaser, die aus den Kokons der Seidenraupe, der Larve des Seidenspinners, gewonnen wird. Sie ist die einzige in der Natur vorkommende textile Endlos-Faser. Sie kommt ursprünglich vermutlich aus China und war eine wichtige Handelsware, die über die Seidenstraße nach Europa transportiert wurde. Neben China, wo auch heute noch der Hauptanteil produziert wird, sind Japan und Indien weitere wichtige Erzeugerländer, in denen der Seidenbau betrieben wird.

Jedwab
Jedwab – włókno pochodzenia zwierzęcego (białkowe) uzyskiwane z kokonu jedwabnika morwowego lub jedwabnika dębowego. Światowa produkcja jedwabiu na poziomie ok. 50 000 ton rocznie jest bardzo niewielka i stanowi zaledwie 0,2% całej produkcji włókien.
Jedwab to również potoczna (błędna) nazwa tkanin produkowanych z przędzy uzyskiwanej z tego włókna. Tkaniny jedwabne charakteryzują się połyskiem, są gładkie, śliskie, wiotkie, miękkie, lekkie, cienkie i bardzo przyjemne w dotyku. Niegdyś stosowane jako podłoże malarskie, zwłaszcza w sztuce orientalnej. Z włókien jedwabnych produkowano sita służące w technice druku zwanej sitodrukiem.
