Siglo XX (Spanish for "Twentieth Century") is a tin mine in Bolivia. It is located in the city of Llallagua in the province of Bustillos, Potosí Department. Along with the Catavi mine, it is part of a mining complex in the area.It was acquired in the 1910s by Simón Iturri Patiño, who was dubbed the "King of Tin." It was the site of continual labor strife, and many of its workers were active in the Union Federation of Bolivian Mine Workers (FSTMB).The mine was nationalized following the "Bolivian National Revolution" of 1952, when the Revolutionary Nationalist Movement (MNR) and its allies overthrew the military junta. Siglo XX and other mines were placed under the control of a new state agency, the Corporación Minera de Bolivia (COMIBOL). The Catavi-Siglo XX complex became the largest component of COMIBOL.

Siglo XX est un groupe de musique classé Cold wave des années 80. Les quatre membres du groupe sont originaires de Genk (Limbourg), en Belgique néerlandophone. Genk est une ancienne région minière, qui a souffert de la dépression post-industrielle (grande pauvreté, taux de chômage important). Ce climat social assez pâle fût une grande inspiration pour la musique sombre et torturée du groupe.

Siglo XX (spanisch für „20. Jahrhundert“) ist der Name der bekanntesten Zinn-Mine in Bolivien. Sie liegt am Rand der Stadt Llallagua in der Provinz Rafael Bustillo im Departamento Potosí. Die Mine Siglo XX bildet zusammen mit der Zinnhütte Catavi einen zusammenhängenden Minenkomplex.Die Mine wurde in den 1910er Jahren vom „Zinnkönig“ Simón I. Patiño erworben. Sie war wiederholt Schauplatz von Arbeitskämpfen und viele der Minenarbeiter waren aktive Mitglieder der bolivianischen Minenarbeiter-Gewerkschaft FSTMB (Federación Sindical de Trabajadores Mineros de Bolivia). Im Zuge der nationalen bolivianischen Revolution von 1952 unter Víctor Paz Estenssoro wurde die Mine verstaatlicht, nachdem der MNR (Movimiento Nacionalista Revolucionario) die bestehende Militärjunta vertrieben hatte. Siglo XX und andere Minen wurden der Kontrolle der neuen Staatsagentur COMIBOL (Corporación Minera de Bolivia) unterstellt und der Catavi-Siglo XX Komplex bildete innerhalb des COMIBOL die größte Einheit.

Siglo XX was een Belgische new wave-groep uit de tachtiger jaren, afkomstig uit Genk.De groep, wier naam Spaans is voor 'twintigste eeuw', geldt als een van de krachtigste vertegenwoordigers van de Belgische wave. Het viertal bracht in 1980 in eigen beheer een eerste single uit, 'The Naked and the Death', een semi-dodenmars die de toon voor hun verdere œuvre zette. Van 1982 tot 1986 werkten ze voor het label Antler; tussen 1987 en 1989 brachten ze hun werk op PIAS uit.

Formalmente el siglo XX comprende los años situados entre 1901 y 2000. Pese a este hecho, está muy extendida entre las masas populares la inexacta concepción que lleva a darle el significado de los años 1900-1999.El siglo XX se ha caracterizado por los avances de la tecnología, medicina y ciencia en general, pero también por crisis y despotismos humanos que causaron efectos tales como las Guerras Mundiales, el genocidio y el etnocidio, las políticas de exclusión social, el desempleo y pobreza generalizados, profundizándose las inequidades de desarrollo social, económico y tecnológico y distribución de la riqueza entre los países y la calidad de vida de los habitantes de las distintas regiones del mundo. En los últimos años del siglo, especialmente a partir de 1989-1991 con el derrumbe de los regímenes colectivistas de Europa, comenzó un fenómeno llamado globalización o mundialización.
