Shotgun
A shotgun (also known as a scattergun and peppergun, or historically as a fowling piece) is a firearm that is usually designed to be fired from the shoulder, which uses the energy of a fixed shell to fire a number of small spherical pellets called shot, or a solid projectile called a slug. Shotguns come in a wide variety of sizes, ranging from 5.5 mm (.22 inch) bore up to 5 cm (2 inch) bore, and in a range of firearm operating mechanisms, including breech loading, single-barreled, double or combination gun, pump-action, bolt-, and lever-action, semi-automatic, and even fully automatic variants.

Shotgun
Der Begriff Shotgun (von engl. shotgun = Schießgewehr) bezeichnet:

Flinte
Das Wort Flinte kam um 1620 auf und bezeichnete ursprünglich das Steinschlossgewehr. Heute ist der Begriff Flinte die Sammelbezeichnung für Jagd-, Sport- und auch Dienstgewehre mit glattem Lauf, welche in erster Linie zum Verfeuern von Schrotkugeln gedacht sind. Der Ausdruck Schrotflinte ist ein Pleonasmus, da grundsätzlich alle Flinten zum Verschießen von Schrot konstruiert sind, auch wenn es weitere Flintenmunition mit anderen Geschossen gibt. Flinten sind zum Schießen auf kurze Distanzen ausgelegt. Je nach Munition ergeben sich realistische Einsatzreichweiten von 10 bis 50 Meter. Über- und Unterschreitungen dieser Reichweiten unter speziellen Bedingungen möglich.

Strzelba
Strzelba – długa, myśliwska lub bojowa broń palna strzelająca nabojami myśliwskimi. Najczęściej gładkolufowa (w USA popularne są strzelby z lufami gwintowanymi strzelające specjalnymi pociskami sabotowymi).
Pod względem konstrukcji strzelby można podzielić na:
- jednolufowe:
- jednostrzałowe (pojedynki)
- powtarzalne
- samopowtarzalne
- dwulufowe (dubeltówki)
Najbardziej rozpowszechnionymi kalibrami nabojów do strzelb są naboje kalibru 12, 16 i 20 (kaliber wagomiarowy definiowany jako liczba kul okrągłych, które można odlać z jednego funta brytyjskiego ołowiu). Typowa amunicja do strzelb to naboje śrutowe i breneki.
