Der Begriff Schechinah (hebräisch: שכינה, alternative Umschriften Schechina oder Schekina) bezeichnet in der jüdischen Theologie die „Einwohnung“ oder „Wohnstatt“ Gottes in Israel, die als Inbegriff der Gegenwart Gottes bei seinem Volk verstanden werden kann. Das Bedeutungsspektrum schließt eine Reihe von Nebenbedeutungen wie „Ruhe“, „Glück“, „Heiligkeit“ oder „Frieden“ ein, immer als Merkmale, die den Wirkungskreis der Gegenwart Gottes charakterisieren und für den Menschen spürbar werden lassen.

Szechina - jest pojęciem religijnym często występującym w judaizmie. Jest to słowo hebrajskie (שכינה), pochodzenia chaldejskiego oznaczające obecność, zamieszkiwanie, nie występuje w Biblii, ale jest używane przez Żydów do określania widocznej obecności Boga w przybytku (tabernakulum), a następnie w Świątyni Jerozolimskiej. Wg przekazu biblijnego, kiedy Pan wyprowadzał Izraela z Egiptu, szedł przed nimi w słupie obłoku (hebr. be-amud anan; Wj 13, 21). Hebrajskie anan jest wieloznaczne, bo to nie tylko chmura, ale również schronienie, ukrycie.
