"Secret Ballot" (Raye makhfi) is a 2001 Iranian film by Babak Payami. The secret ballot is a voting method in which a voter's choices are confidential. The key aim is to ensure the voter records a sincere choice by forestalling attempts to influence the voter by intimidation or bribery.The system is one means of achieving the goal of political privacy. Secret ballots are suitable for many different voting systems.The most basic form may be blank pieces of paper, upon which each voter writes only their choice. Without revealing their vote to anyone, the voters place the ballots into a sealed box, which is emptied later for counting.

Das Wahlgeheimnis sichert dem Wähler bei einer geheimen Wahl, dass seine Wahlentscheidung nicht beobachtet und auch nicht nachträglich rekonstruiert werden kann. Das Wahlgeheimnis wird durch die Wahlkabine, in der der Wahlvorgang stattfinden muss und die verschlossene Wahlurne, in die der Stimmzettel geworfen wird, gesichert. Ebenso gehören dazu gleichförmige Stimmzettel und gleiche Stifte, mit denen die Stimmzettel gekennzeichnet werden können. Zasada tajności głosowania mówi o tym, że głosowanie odbywa się w sposób anonimowy i nikt z osób trzecich nie ma prawa ingerować w żaden sposób w przebieg głosowania. Zapewnienie tajności głosowania jest uważane za jeden z podstawowych warunków demokratyczności wyborów.W wyborach powszechnych (z uczestnictwem obywateli) zasada ta odnosi się do sposobu, w jaki każdy obywatel wypełnia kartę do głosowania. Tak wypełnioną kartę głosujący wrzuca do urny osobiście, co wyklucza możliwość ingerencji w treść karty. Urna wedle polskiego prawa powinna być zalakowana z pieczęcią komisji, jeśli okręgowa komisja wyborcza stwierdzi naruszenie tajności wyborów, wtedy ma prawo unieważnić wybory w danym okręgu.
