Węch to jeden z dwóch, oprócz smaku, zmysłów chemicznych.Istota tego zmysłu zasadza się na umiejętności rozpoznawania występowania określonych związków chemicznych lub ich mieszanin w otoczeniu.Zapachy odczuwa się na skutek kontaktu związków o własnościach zapachowych z receptorami, które "potrafią" je rozpoznawać i przesyłać odpowiednie sygnały do mózgu.
