satire

Satire (from Latin satura, not from the Greek mythological figure satyr) is a literary genre, chiefly literary and dramatic, in which human or individual vices, follies, abuses, or shortcomings are held up to censure by means of ridicule, derision, burlesque, irony, or other methods, sometimes with an intent to bring about improvement. It is used in graphic arts and performing arts as well. Although satire is usually meant to be humorous, the purpose of satire is not primarily humour but criticism of an event, an individual or a group in a witty manner.

Une satire est une œuvre dont l'objectif est de critiquer, de se moquer de son sujet (des individus, des organisations, des États, etc.), souvent dans l'intention de provoquer ou prévenir un changement. On attribue généralement la paternité de ce genre littéraire (satura, c'est-à-dire « pot-pourri ») au poète et dramaturge archaïque latin Lucilius

Satire (lat. satira; von satura lanx: „mit Früchten gefüllte Schale“, im übertragenen Sinne: „bunt gemischtes Allerlei“; früher fälschlich auf Satyr zurückgeführt, daher die ältere Schreibweise Satyra) ist eine Spottdichtung, die mangelhafte Tugend oder gesellschaftliche Missstände anklagt. Historische Bezeichnungen sind im Deutschen auch Spottschrift, Stachelschrift und Pasquill (gegen Personen gerichtete satirische Schmähschrift).

Satyra – gatunek literacki lub publicystyczny łączący w sobie epikę i lirykę (także inne formy wypowiedzi) wywodzący się ze starożytności (pisał je m.in. Horacy), ośmiesza i piętnuje ukazywane w niej zjawiska, obyczaje, stosunki społeczne. Prezentuje świat poprzez komiczne wyolbrzymienie, ale nie proponuje żadnych rozwiązań pozytywnych. Cechą charakterystyczną satyry jest karykaturalne ukazanie postaci. Istotą satyry jest krytyczna postawa autora wobec rzeczywistości, ukazywanie jej w krzywym zwierciadle.
