Satellite television
Satellite television is television programming delivered by the means of communications satellite and received by an outdoor antenna, usually a parabolic mirror generally referred to as a satellite dish, and as far as household usage is concerned, a satellite receiver either in the form of an external set-top box or a satellite tuner module built into a TV set. Satellite TV tuners are also available as a card or a USB stick to be attached to a personal computer. In many areas of the world satellite television provides a wide range of channels and services, often to areas that are not serviced by terrestrial or cable providers.

Satellitenfernsehen ist die Übertragung von Fernsehprogrammen via Fernsehsatelliten direkt an den Zuschauer, ohne Umwege über terrestrisch übertragene bzw. durch Kabelnetze übertragene Fernsehsignale.

British Sky Broadcasting
British Sky Broadcasting Group plc (alias BSkyB) est un opérateur de télévision par satellite britannique qui a été créé en 1990 par fusion de Sky Television et British Satellite Broadcasting. En 2005, BSkyB commercialise le bouquet satellite le plus populaire au Royaume-Uni et en Irlande : Sky Digital. BSkyB est aussi l’éditeur de certaines chaînes de son bouquet. BSkyB est contrôlé à 37,7% (en mai 2006) par News Corporation, le groupe de médias de Rupert Murdoch. En 2005, BSkyB compte 11 659 000 clients.

TPS (entreprise)
TPS est une société créée en 1996. Originellement, TPS était détenue par France Télévisions en principal actionnaire, le groupe TF1 et le groupe M6. Cependant, France Télévisions s'est retirée en 2002, laissant 66 % de l'actionnariat au groupe TF1 et 34 % au groupe M6.

Télévision par satellite
La télévision par satellite consiste à émettre depuis un satellite en orbite géostationnaire (à 35 850 km, qui se déplace à la même vitesse que la rotation de la terre, donc qui paraît « immobile » depuis le sol) des programmes de radio et de télévision, analogiques et numériques, payants (cryptés) ou gratuits (en clair).

Telewizja satelitarna
Telewizja satelitarna - telewizja wykorzystująca nadajniki (tzw. transpondery) umieszczone na sztucznych satelitach Ziemi. Cechą charakterystyczną tego sposobu emisji jest możliwość pokrycia sygnałem ogromnych obszarów przy użyciu tylko jednego nadajnika oraz możliwość dotarcia z sygnałem do obszarów, na których tworzenie sieci nadajników naziemnych jest niemożliwe lub nieopłacalne.

Televisione satellitare
La televisione satellitare o televisione via satellite, o anche TV satellitare o TV via satellite, è la televisione che giunge agli utenti per mezzo di onde radio emesse da trasmettitori posti su satelliti per telecomunicazioni geostazionari.
La televisione è diffusa agli utenti attraverso reti per telecomunicazioni che possono utilizzare metodi di trasmissione diversi in diversi tratti della rete. In base al metodo di trasmissione utilizzato nel tratto di rete che giunge all'utente la televisione si distingue infatti in televisione terrestre se il metodo di trasmissione utilizza onde radio emesse da trasmettitori posti sulla superficie terrestre, in televisione satellitare se il metodo di trasmissione utilizza onde radio emesse da trasmettitori posti su satelliti per telecomunicazioni geostazionari, in televisione via cavo se il metodo di trasmissione utilizza un cavo per telecomunicazioni.
