Rum
Rum is a distilled beverage made from sugarcane byproducts such as molasses and sugarcane juice by a process of fermentation and distillation. The distillate, a clear liquid, is then usually aged in oak and other casks. The majority of rum production occurs in and around the Caribbean and along the Demerara RiverGuyana in South America, though there are rum producers in places such as AustraliaIndiaReunion Island, and elsewhere around the world.

Rùm
Please note: There is also a "Rum Island" off Sea Lion Island in the Falklands, and a "Rum Island" in the San Juan Islands in the Puget Sound of Washington State, U.S.Rùm (a Scottish Gaelic name which is often anglicised to Rum) is one of the Small Isles of the Inner Hebrides, administratively part of LochaberHighlandScotland.For several decades the name was spelt Rhum, which was coined in the 1900s by the former owner, Sir George Bullough, because he did not relish the idea of having the title "Laird of Rum".

Rûm, also Roum or Rhum (in Arabic  الرُّومُ ar-Rūm, Turkish Rum), is a very indefinite term used at different times in the Muslim world for Europeans generally and for the Byzantine Empire in particular, for the Seljuk Sultanate of Rûm in Asia Minor, and for Greeks inhabiting Ottoman or modern Turkish territory. Most often, "Rûm" referred to the Byzantine Empire.
